New York Fashion Week will take place in just two months, when ateliers will showcase their Spring 2024 collections across the city at runway shows and through virtual showrooms and digital activations. We can't wait to take our seat in the tents and do some 2024 trend spotting for our fashion, retail and lifestyle clients. (After all, the fashion world drives aesthetics in everything from social media and beauty to tech gadgets and home decor.)
In the meantime, we're focusing our attention on the near future with a look at what everyone will be wearing come autumn. Here are our top five Fall 2023 fashion trends that we'll be rocking at the first sign of crisp weather or turning leaves.
1 - Tailored and pinstriped suiting
Corporate-inspired pieces (think blazers with shoulder pads, pleated trousers and pencil skirts) will be everywhere at work – and remixed for outside the office, from date nights to brunch with friends. This corner office aesthetic will likely spill over into tech gadgets and home accessories, from phone covers to desk blotters and planners.
2 - Red all over Head-to-toe scarlet ensembles will be the go-to look for monochrome lovers. Crimson clutches, cherry-toned patent leather belts and poppy-red nails will become in-demand flourishes for the rest of us. Like Barbie pink of Summer 2023, red will be THE color of the season, so get ready to see it everywhere – from lipstick to cars to home decor.
3 - White shirts
The classic returns with multiple interpretations – oversized or boxy, silk or cotton.
4 - Black statement coats We're loving the understated cool of wool and cashmere stadium coats with traditional lapels. This one's all about wearability. (And we're ALL IN on slow fashion – aka, buying a chic and timeliness investment piece that will last you for years to come.)
5 - Gentle grunge
Muted winter floral dresses with black lace details. Opaque tights and well-worn Docs. They're all giving Reality Bites vibes. (BTW, the film turns 30 in 2024, so expect to see tons of wistful think pieces on the Gen X slacker classic.) This one will definitely spill over into home decor, just like the Coastal Grandmother aesthetic did in 2022.
